FLYBY KATHY
Portugal, 2023 | FIC 11'
Bando à Parte
Director: Pedro Bastos
"Kathy [Harcourt] was a beautiful, voluptuous actress who appeared in ten or so pornographic feature films around 1980, and a bunch of 8mm loops too. She featured in magazines, stripped in the best clubs, and for a short time turned up at all the industry events and parties. She seemed bubbly and happy and sweet, and everybody spoke highly of her. And then she was found dead in mysterious circumstances."

Bando à Parte Filmika Galaika
Directors: Lois Patiño and Matias Piñero
Who is Sycorax? The first of all characters in William Shakespeare's "The Tempest" to set foot on the play's island. The problem is that Sycorax has no voice. She is barely mentioned by Prospero as a wicked old witch who vilely trapped Ariel, the spirit of the air, in a tree.
But why would she lock Ariel in a tree? Here, we would not believe so much in Prospero.

AMBULATORY THROUGH THE POETRY OF AUGUSTO DOS ANJOS AND ANTÓNIO NOBRE
Portugal, 2019 | FIC, 29'
Bando à Parte
Director: Pedro Bastos
A decadent poet and Portuguese symbolist, António Nobre died of tuberculosis at the age of 32 (1900), leaving only one book published (Só, 1892). A symbolist Brazilian poet, Augusto dos Anjos died of pneumonia at the age of 30 (1914), leaving only one book published (Eu, 1912). This coincidence is the pretext for Pedro Bastos to invite the spectator to an outpatient incursion, through the dark, dismal, disturbing and decadent spaces.

THE SCOUNDREL
Portugal, 2012 | FIC, B&W, 26'

Director: Paulo Abreu
There are two ways of looking at The Scoundrel: one, as the story of a vigilante friar, caretaker of order and champion of good, who, for not being reciprocated by the loves of a committed woman, becomes a terrifying villain of a peaceful city. Another, like the lost film by Conrad Wilhelm Meyersick, a German engineer and amateur filmmaker who, in 1920, was in Guimarães, a small town in northern Portugal, to install three weaving machines and who, during his stay, filmed this story.
